Thought I’d post a few lines and some pics, giving you all an update as to what’s been happening in Pissy’s world.
So far, the summer has been pretty fabulous for me. Not that I have a lot of interesting tales to tell—like some of you, I’m sure—but rather, I’m just spending it exactly the way I want. This in the simplest terms is a lot of me-time.
I’ve had an emotional growth spurt in the last two months. I don’t know if I’d go as far as using the phrase moving forward with leaps and bounds, but it sure feels like that’s the case. I know whatever is happening to me is in effect a result of my having more self-esteem, and I’m better for it. By just doing something as simple as beginning to shed my body-image issues, it’s freed me from restraints I didn’t realize were there and holding me back. It’s enabled me to live again and have some fun. I’ll be honest. I’d almost forgotten what ‘fun’ felt like.
As I wrote in my previous post, it started with something as ridiculous as reading “The Fifty Shades of Grey” trilogy, which I swear made me feel sexier and heightened my sexual appetite. This led to my feeling confident enough to throw on that old bikini I swore I’d never wear again and lay out in the yard, parade around in front of my husband naked as the day I was born, and the more I did, the less inhibited I began to feel. Soon, I began to accept offers to go hang out at my niece’s house and lounge around the pool, and then bravely joined she and her family at the lake.
No longer sitting inside the house wallowing in my own self-loathing while watching summer pass me by, the most miraculous thing has begun to happen…
Okay, so I admit, my ‘tan’ is probably the equivalent of the rest of yours before you actually start working on one—because I AM normally that pasty white—but I’m just excited as hell that I’m actually acquiring one—for the first time in my life!—and am able to wear shorts without completely blinding the public. Woo-Hoo!
Oh, btw…did you notice the little daisy bikini bottoms? Yep…50 years old and I’m rocking a daisy bikini. WTF, right? And I have an I-don’t-give-a-fuck attitude to go along with it. Ha..Ha..
Yes, I have to admit, all things seem to be coming up roses lately. There’s the fact that I finally got a new vehicle that runs, which means I’m no longer forced to sit at home. And although it may not be brand-spanking-new, it’s newer than what I had and gets me where I want and need to go.
The Old Man went out and got himself another Harley, so now the two of us can ride more comfortably than we did on Black Betty, the 75’ Shovelhead he has. This one is a 2001 Road King and the difference the ride makes on my back is like night and day.
And although this might not seem like a big deal to some, I went to an estate sale and was fortunate enough to find the complimentary pitcher and salt/pepper shaker that goes with my late Grandmother’s dishes I inherited, and am tickled to death. Cause that shit just doesn’t happen everyday!
Last, but certainly not least, Markie (my youngest) finally graduated!
Now, for any of you that have been following my blog for the last couple of years, you’re probably going to be a bit confused by why my soon-to-be-20-year-old son is just now graduating high school. Well, the quickest and easiest explanation is this: He had trouble applying himself in school years ago, and fell a year behind. Then shortly before he turned 18, before starting his senior year, he insisted on moving out and back to the city, and although he promised, did not attend school the way he was supposed to. He fell into a lot of slacking, some drugs, and more or less stuck his head completely up his own ass. It somehow found its way back out, and I am proud to say, that although we’d all about given up he would ever graduate and begged him to get his GED to at least finish, he ended up picking back up from where he started, and graduated with the summer school class this year. The teachers were so impressed with his determination that they asked him to write and give the commencement speech.
And although I wasn’t able to download it and show the article, the city newspaper “The Nonpareil”, made him it’s ‘Face of the Day’, because of his accomplishment. As the principal recited, “It doesn’t matter how the members of this class got here. The end result is the same. They are now graduates!” I couldn’t be prouder!!! My daughter, Jessica, and me just couldn’t stop sobbing.
Yep, things are definitely better with me and mine. I’m doing well and am happy. My children are doing well and are happy. The Old Man? Well, he carries the name Mr. Fun-Hater and Mr. Cranky-Pants for a reason, but even he has been more social lately, and we’ve had a bit of company out at the house from time to time. Perhaps one of these days it will finally sink in that people need other people in their lives.
Speaking of kids… Bon, Lil Girl, and Mu have been enjoying the summer too.
Took Mu to the vet a couple weeks ago to finish up the series of his puppy shots, and he weighed in at 4 pounds 15 ounces at 4 months of age. I asked the vet if this meant that I was going to have the only Yorkie who weighs 30+ pounds when full grown. I was told that they do most of their growing the first four or five months, so he should only get to about 7 or 8 pounds. Phew! I was worried I was going to be lugging around a side of beef. He likes to be carried!
So that’s my summer-update, thus far. I hope all of you are enjoying yours too.
Catch you again next month!
